In New York we just missed King Kong. Since we went to New York, we had to go to New York City. There we went to Pop-Tart World, Nintendo World, Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, and on a bus tour.

Pop-Tart World was really tasty, especially with all the Pop-Tart samples. They also had a vending machine since they sold six Pop-Tarts for an expensive $20. We didn't buy any Pop-Tarts.

Another thing we did in New York City was Nintendo World, which is a store after my own heart because it sells video games. They sell hundreds of video games. Sadly most of the systems you could play were being played, but I did get to play the DSi. I took tons of pictures with it and then made them look hilarious.

The Statue of Liberty was cool in the sense of seeing the American symbol up close. On the other hand, it was, well, boring. You start at Ellis Island which was the previous immigration reception place.  After that stop, you take a boat to the island where Lady Liberty resides. If you were lucky enough to purchase tickets to the head, which you have to purchase six years in advance, then the expedition might be worth it. We only were able to go in the feet. Luckily, they didn't smell.

Another thing we did was go up the humongous Empire State Building. The Empire State Building is one thousand, two hundred fifty feet from bottom to top.  When we went up, we skipped about an hour's worth of line because we purchased our tickets in advance. We did still have to wait about thirty minutes though.

The view at the top of the Empire State Building is very cool. My preferred view was looking over Central Park and millions of tall buildings. Growing up in farm country, the only tall building I saw was about ten stories high, not one hundred stories high. Because the elevator was really fast, Chloe and I had so much fun.

Lastly we took a bus tour around New York City. This was really fun except for the fact that we had to get up at five in the morning to do it. We were ushered around New York City looking at all the famous sites and tall buildings. We also exited the bus and walked through a small portion of Central Park. Had we walked around New York City instead of the bus tour, I think Central Park might have been a great place where we could have played catch or bocce ball.

The largest stop on the bus was an amazingly large church. We went in, and it was kind of eerie. It was dark.  Plus they had organ music playing which just added to the effect. The last big thing I remember was the museum from Night at the Museum. Because it was closed for remodeling, we couldn't go inside.

Seeing the famous places like the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building was fun. I also liked Pop-Tart World and Nintendo World. I just wish I could have seen King Kong.

New York - Scarred for Life

Have you ever been on a tour and then seen the place where one of your favorite movies was filmed? I did in New York. In New York we visited the Empire State Building, Pop Tart World, the American Girl Store, Statue of Liberty, and FDR's Presidential Museum. We also went on a bus tour of New York City.

The Empire State Building was so cool!  It was amazingly tall.  I had fun playing "I Spy" from the viewing area.  Do you want to know what was really cool, though?  Pop Tart World! We didn't do much there, but what we could have done was awesome. We could have created a Pop Tart t-shirt. We could have made a box of pop tarts. We could have picked up to three different kinds of Pop Tarts to put in one box.  We could have done so many things, but unfortunately we didn't do the cool stuff.

The American Girl Store was awesome! I was just browsing, but there were so many things that I wish I could have bought because I am a big fan of American Girls. I already have three. I've been to three American Girl Stores on our trip, and the one in New York City was by far the best because it was the biggest and the fanciest.

The Statue of Liberty was the most patriotic thing I've ever seen. She was amazing! One thing that I learned was the same person that built the Eiffel Tower built the structure of the Statue of Liberty. Since we went inside, we could see the similarities. Don't get me wrong we've never been to the Eiffel Tower. It's just so popular that when I hear the words "Eiffel Tower," I automatically have a picture of the Eiffel Tower in my head.

The FDR Museum has left a scar in my life literally. I have the biggest scar you will never see on my knee. I got the scar when we were walking back into the building from a tour. The rocks were loose causing me to trip. I fell on the hard, loose rocks. I still have a scar, and it's been nearly six months since I fell! Besides the scar, the FDR Museum was okay but not the best. We learned that FDR liked to climb trees like me, but that's all I remember.

The bus tour of New York City was interesting. We passed by the museum where Night at the Museum was filmed. Night at the Museum is one of my favorite movies. On the bus tour we also stopped by Central Park. Central Park is beautiful! It's so beautiful I can't even begin to describe it, but I'll try. Central Park had a beautiful lake right in the middle with ducks gracefully swimming. It was so peaceful at Central Park. I felt like I could just lay down and take a nap. Central Park by far was one of the most peaceful, beautiful, and graceful places I've ever been.

Overall New York was okay but definitely not my favorite. I would recommend the Empire State Building, Pop Tart World, American Girl Store, Statue of Liberty, and Central Park. By the way they came out with Night at the Museum 2, and it's even better than the first!
